Getting Involved

Starting a New Youth Club

If you are thinking of starting a new youth club or activity, we are here to help you. The support we offer is funded through our "Supporting Youth Activities" contract with Shropshire Council.
We will

ü      Support you to

o   Recruit an appropriate number of volunteers to support our worker.

o   Offer your volunteers a training package which includes:

§  Nationally accredited level 1 courses for Young leaders

§  Level 2 & 3 courses for volunteers and paid youth workers

§  Shropshire safeguarding board training courses.

§  We arrange First Aid and food Hygiene training (at additional cost)

§  Through the partnership with Energize we will be able to add sports leader training and club mark accreditation.

   An administrative support package offering templates for:

o   A constitution,

o   Policies and procedures on

§  Health & Safety,

§  Safe recruitment,

§  Grievance and disciplinary,

§  Safeguarding, including DBS checks

§  Equal opportunities

  Advice on:

o   Management committees

o   Finance

§  Administration

§  Fund raising

·         This will include help writing bids and identifying sources of funding

·         Energize funding webinars which will highlight further capital and revenue opportunities to enhance your groups sport and recreation offer

o   Advertising

  Discounted Insurance

   Regular contact either electronically, by phone or a visit to suit need by our support workers, who are qualified and experienced practitioners.

    Access to the SYA website which will offer your club an individual page and access to a management information system that will record pertinent information and
    allow the recording of outcomes that can be used in reports to increase future funding success

   An activities programme that sources and advertises activity packages for you at break even or subsidised costs, the opportunities are risk assessed checked and monitored by “Educational Visits Coordinators” (E.V.C) to comply with duty of care requirements.

  Through our partnership with Energize you will be able to use their sporting and active offer.


If you would like to volunteer to do some youth work, we can offer you:

An opportunity to support voluntary Youth Clubs in your area, become a volunteer support worker (For experienced youth workers)

An opportunity to deliver youth work in local voluntary clubs (We will give full training and support)

An opportunity to pass on your skills and expertise
on an occasional basis. Please see our volunteer bank.
     An example of this is where a local mechanic offered to come to a youth club and show young people how to change a wheel and check the oil, break fluid and water levels on a car,
     he offered to do it once, but enjoyed it so much he did it about 5 times.
